"Mau" litterally means "cat" in Egyptian. the egyptian Mau is the oldest breed of cat and are seen depicted in the tomb painting by the ancient egyptians. these cats were considered sacred and were often mummified and buried along side their owners to accompany them into the afterlife. these cats were nearly all wiped out during WWI and the few surviving members of the breed were found in Italy. they are highly intelegent and very loyal to all their two and four legged companions. it has a dense coat that comes in silver, smoke, and bronze and is known for its unique striping and spotting pattern (the pattern is only found on the tips of the fur and the darker color isn't on the whole strand of fur). it has longer back legs and are designed for speed.
